Current
projects of the NWOPC include, but are certainly not limited to:
- Student
and Family Rights and Privacy
Committee (aka Learning Not
Recruiting) - focusing on truth in recruitment, protection of
student
privacy when desired from release to military recruiters, limiting
recruiter access to students to only what is required by federal law
rather than preferential access, and educating students, families,
schools and the community about these important matters for the
protection of youth.
- Arlington
Midwest
- a traveling display of tombstones representing the human cost of the
war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The display includes a simulated tombstone
with name, rank, age and state of origin for each fallen U.S. soldier.
- Peace
Demonstrations
- Weekly Sunday peace demonstrations and human 'blogging' to
commemorate each 100 U.S. soldier deaths.
Meetings are at 7:00
pm on the first and third Mondays of each month at First Unitarian
Church, corner of Bancroft and Collingwood, Toledo, Ohio. Weekly Peace
Demonstrations are held every Sunday from Noon - 1:30 pm at different
intersections throughout Toledo. Please check our calendar
for this week's location and other events.
